22 Jul: Covid19 Guidance Reminder

COVID-19 Guidance

Helpful Hints and Reminders

1. Social Distancing –Marshals

A reminder to ALL marshals and officials that social distancing remains at 2 metres unless you are following the 1m+ guidance and wearing suitable PPE.

Remember to add masks onto your standard checklist to make sure you take some with you.

2. Social Distancing – Competitors/Participants

Social distancing remains at 2 metres or 1m+ for competitors and the teams. Others who need to interact with the teams need to follow these social distancing guidelines. Just think 2 paces away is a good guide.

3. Participants & Visitors

Venue organisers are working hard to enable spectators to be allowed access by keeping participants separate from visitors. If a venue/event provides marshals with guest passes, those guests will be considered to be visitors and should remain with other visitors throughout the event.

4. Pushing Cars

With the exception of sprints and hill climbs, pushing vehicles should not be undertaken by the marshals unless the correct PPE is worn.

The wording in the current guidance is:

In the event of an incident requiring intervention or where there is no OK sign (thumbs up) from the driver, marshals equipped with appropriate PPE should adopt the usual procedures to deal with the incident until additional support arrives. At which time the marshals’ direct involvement may not be required, and they may only be needed to control the site.

5. Competitor ‘Thumbs-up’

Don’t forget – if a competitor has an incident, giving a thumbs-up to the marshals (so they can see it) should be one of the first things to do.

6. Trainee Marshals and Officials

Marshal Guidance

During this first phase of the resumption of motorsport activity, the act of trainee marshals shadowing other marshals has been temporarily put on hold. However, if the trainee is fulfilling a function as a marshal for the event and ‘learning on the job’ this can continue if the current guidance around social distancing is adhered to.

Clerks and Stewards Guidance

During this first phase of the resumption of motorsport activity, the act of trainee officials shadowing other officials has been temporarily put on hold. However, if the trainee is fulfilling a function as an official for the event and ‘learning on the job’ this can continue if the current guidance around social distancing is adhered to.

7. Competitors’ Licence

A quick reminder to Competitors and Entrants to take your licence with you just in case it is needed.
