06 Sep: Galloway Entry List/Preview

… Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally, Sat. 9 Sept.
… Round 7 (of 7) ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship …

The final round of this year’s ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship gets underway this Saturday morning at Castle Douglas when 8 times winner Jock Armstrong heads a top quality entry including twice winner David Bogie and 2011 winner Mark McCulloch. However, Bogie will be in his Escort, not the Skoda, so any expectations by his fans and followers will be out the window this weekend. Or will they?

And if Shaun Sinclair can get out of his pit early enough to rub the sleep out of his eyes, then he could mount a serious threat. Mike Faulkner will also want to finish his season on a high. Having promised so much this year, he’s had more than his fair share of troubles. Galloway is also Rory Young territory and despite the lack of competitive stage miles this year, he showed on the RSAC Scottish (4th) that he’s up there with the best.

Adding a touch of international flavour to this weekend’s competition are a few crews from across the water braving the Irish Sea crossing plus a few more from the far north – of Englandshire.

And not just English and Irish visitors but there is real International flavour with a driver all the way from Moscow. Seeded at number 35 is Robertski Adamsonovich from Moscow – in Ayrshire! Still, I suppose Ayrshire is a foreign country to the Gallowegians, eh?

The rally will start from Castle Douglas at 9 in the morning and finish at Threave Gardens (caramel shortcake in the cafe is to die for!) just to the south of the town
