08 Jan: Knockhill Stages Entry List

… Grant Construction Knockhill Stages, Sun 10 Jan …

Last year’s winner, Michael Glendinning leads the 60+ entry for Sunday’s Grant Construction Knockhill Stages Rally, the first round of the 2016 Blackwood Plant Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship. Gary Adam runs at number 2 in his Escort, but which will be best at for Knockhill on Sunday, 4WD or 2WD? Last year it was pretty icy for the first few runs before the sun got up – and then went down again.

Ian Paterson is always a front runner in the Subaru and Alistair Inglis has spent the past year sorting out the Lotus. He’s now proved it’s got the pace, all it needs is a bit of reliability. Stuart Walker has got a new Skoda and Donnie MacDonald is always good value. Barry Renwick’s Proton is quite a weapon and he’s had a couple of runs out in the car already so should be match fit for Sunday while Colin Gemmell is another threat for a popium finish. Rounding off the top ten is Alan Kirkaldy in his rapid Mk2 and should give Gary a run for his money while James Gibb is entered in a Fiesta but rumour has it he has been spotted kicking wheels over the past few weeks!

An adult Ticket will cost 10 quid on the day or 6 quid for a concession while a family ticket will cost £26. There will be eight Special Stages with the first getting underway at 08.30 hrs – in the morning – on a Sunday – in the cold – and in the dark. It’s at times like this rally fans really do need to question their sanity.

First car is expected to finish around 4.30 pm, just remember to bring a flask of soup with you.
