17 Mar: Border Counties Entry List

ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship
Rd03 (of 8) – Border Counties Rally, 21st March

This year’s event will be based Jedburgh Town Hall as usual and the first car will be flagged away from Abbey Place on Saturday morning at 08:01 hrs.

After 6 Special Stages, the first cars are expected back at the Rally Finish in Abbey Place shortly after 15.30 Hrs with the prize presentation taking place no earlier than 17.30 Hrs.

There is very limited stage access due to sensitivities in the area so please respect this but facilities have been provided at two stages. It’s not ideal but at least we will get the chance to see a resumption of that ‘serious fecht’ between Jock Armstrong and Mike Faulkner and didn’t Bruce McCombie do awfy well on the Snowman. David Bogie will be full of beans again after his clutch trouble on the season opener and Andrew Gallacher pitched in some decent times first time out in his new Fiesta.

Add to that a few ‘veesitors from foreign parts’ with Stephen Petch out in the sister car to Bogie’s and Peter Taylor in the S2400 version of the Fiesta. It would be shame to miss this.

(Entry List follows on from Spectator/Route Info below)

STAGE INFORMATION:
START / FINISH – Abbey Place, Jedburgh

The competitor’s will be in Abbey Place on Friday 20th March for Scrutineering from 2pm. On Saturday morning the first competitor will start at 08:31. The competitors will return for a re-group approximately 10:30. The first competitor is to finish the event at 15:30.

SPECIAL STAGE 1 – Blackburn Rig
NO Spectator Access to this stage as there are no suitable spectator points or parking locations. The Organising Team request that you please avoid this stage to help prevent any problems

SPECIAL STAGE 2 – Riccarton First car 9.45am
Enter the forest from B6357 Bonchester Bridge to Newcastleton at the ‘Note of the Gate’. Follow the spectator arrows and park as instructed. There is a turning point for vehicles please to not block this area. This will give easy walking access to Post 12. PLEASE ENSURE THE ACCESS ROADS ARE KEPT CLEAR as they may be needed by Rescue Units in case of emergency. The Police will issue Parking Tickets to anyone they consider is inappropriately parked on the public road. Please drive carefully.
Tweed Valley: In returning to these stages after many years we ask you to read the following very carefully. The spectator point for Stage 4 has been chosen because of easy access, good parking and the great views. The other stages are no longer considered suitable due to parking restrictions and PR sensitivity, the minor road south of the Tweed is very narrow and verges are very soft. Any parking in passing places will be dealt with appropriately. Please use the area suggested and help us maintain the goodwill we have encountered when visiting residents. This will ensure we can all return in future.

SPECIAL STAGE 3 – Cardrona
NO Spectator Access to this stage. The route does not use the traditional hairpin near the finish and so there is no suitable parking. The surrounding area is PR sensitive and at the request of Forest Commission the Organising Team request that you please avoid this stage to help prevent any problems.

SPECIAL STAGE 4 – Elibank First car 12.50pm
Turn off the A72 in Walkerburn heading south across the Tweed at the rugby club. Stay left onto the minor road and follow the spectator arrows for a short distance to West Bold. Enter the forest here, drive slowly through the forestry village onto the Glenbenna Burn road and park as instructed. Absolutely no parking at the forestry village!
Residents have welcomed the rally, so please help us further that goodwill. There is almost 1 mile of parking before the stage, this gives easy walking access to Posts 3 and 4 where there are excellent views.PLEASE ENSURE THE ACCESS ROADS ARE KEPT CLEAR as they may be needed by Rescue Units in case of emergency. Please drive carefully.

SPECIAL STAGE 5 – Yair
NO Spectator Access to this stage as it PR sensitive. At the request of Forest Commission the Organising Team request that you please avoid this stage to help prevent any problems.

SPECIAL STAGE 6 – Hyndlee
NO Spectator Access to this stage as there are no suitable spectator points or parking locations. The Organising Team request that you please avoid this stage to help prevent any problems

SERVICE AREA – Newtown St Boswells Auction Mart Service 1 first car 11.01am / Service 2 first car 13.45pm
The service area this year has not been used on the event previously. There is public parking opposite Scottish Borders Council HQ. Please park in the car park and walk in the viewing area. Take care as there will be competitor vehicles moving within the service area. As with all of our venues we ask that you respect the land owners and put litter in bins or take with you. There is a cafe and toilets on site.

Spectators Please Note:
PLEASE follow the instructions of the Marshals; they are there for your safety.
NEVER stand in Prohibited Areas, escape roads, in box junctions or on the outside of corners.
PLEASE use the official car parks. Parking on roadside grass verges may result in a Parking Ticket being issued by the Police.
DO NOT walk on the competing stage.
CHILDREN SHOULD ALWAYS be accompanied by an adult who should be responsible for their behaviour.
STAY ALERT some cars are quiet and it is easy for a car to appear when you are not expecting it. Although cars will start the stage at one minute intervals, in a long stage they may catch the car in front and you may find some cars running close together.
DO NOT block access roads; they may be needed by Rescue Units in an emergency.
DO NOT sit on log piles or stand below the level of the road and give yourself room to move quickly if necessary.
ALWAYS stand a safe distance from the cars, remember this is a loose surface and flying stones can travel a long way.
PLEASE keep the forest tidy: TAKE YOUR LITTER HOME.
AND FINALLY, The event takes place with the consent of the Forestry Commission and the Residents on route. Please do not take anything to damage the good relationship we have with the people concerned.
