… Rd03 (of 8) 2014 ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship …
Just 4 stages (with 2 whoppers!) in this year’s McCombie Builders Granite City Rally, but what an entry. Bogie and Thorburn are expected to lead the fight but don’t expect too much of the third Focus WRC in the entry list, this will be Andy Horne’s first run out in the beast. However, we can expect the usual fireworks from the likes of Jock Armstrong, Quintin Milne, Mike Faulkner, Barry Groundwater and Chris Collie. Mind you Donnie MacDonald is showing a fair turn of speed at times and Bruce McCombie is finding the switch from an Impreza to a Lancer beneficial to his progress plus of course Andrew Gallacher is posting some decent times in his GrpN Lancer, Dougal Brown has picked up the pace this year and of course you can’t overlook Alistair Inglis.
Spectator details are a bit sketchy with no information having been released officially. Rally HQ is at the Altens Thistle Hotel on the south side of the city.
Timetable:
Start: 09.00 Hrs, Thistle Altens Hotel
SS1 Durris, 7.7 mls: 09:46 Hrs
According to the rally’s Facebook page this will be the only ‘Spectator’ stage, so look out for the green arrows. There will be off road parking near the Durris transmitter on the A957 Stonehaven to Crathes road.
SS2 Swanley, 15.9 mls: 10:09 Hrs
This test is also accessible from the A957 on the opposite side of the road from Durris in Fetteresso Forest
Service in Banchory
SS3 Drumtochty, 6.6 mls: 13.01 Hrs
This is fairly inaccessible just to the east of Clatterin’Brig and Fettercairn.
SS4 Glenfarquhar, 14.1 mls: 13:26 Hrs
The final test is in the western end of Drumtochty Forest with the Start just off the unclassified road through Strath Finella east of Clatterin’Brig, and the Finish is right in the middle of the complex so that’s pretty inaccessible too.
