19 Sept: Scots Chase Pendragon

Sunday’s Stobart Rail Pendragon Stages Rally at Warcop, just 20 miles south east of Penrith on the A66, has attracted a healthy entry of Scots in the BLUE Scottish Tarmack Championship plus a few furrin folk who are already weel kent up here and they are all listed below.

There’s a full entry list on the organisers’ website at:
https://www.rallies.info/webentry/2013/pendragon/entries.php?type=s

If you have a look at that you will see a few more interesting names and it will be interesting to see how Quintin Milne gets on against Damien Cole, both in MkIIs, and also how young Peter Taylor will cope with the more experienced (code for older!) Paul Benn in their Ford World Cars. And what about Ian Joel in the Escort Cossie and young Ollie Mellors in the Proton?Add in the likes of Stuart Baillie in the Impreza and Chris Anderson in his Fiesta and the scene is set for some good crack over the ranges.

Spectating will not be as straightforward as other events as the tank testing and firing Ranges are still very much active – that means don’t go picking up strange shiny objects in the long grass!

However, the organisers have secured more encouragement from the MOD to allow spectators in to certain areas – as long as they stick to the rules. So far, public response has been good, hence the practice is being continued this year – so don’t go mucking up this working relationship.

All 8 Special Stages can be viewed from the pre-arranged and marked-out spectator area with the action getting underway at 8.15 am on Sunday morning 22nd September .

Access to the spectator area will ONLY be via a ‘park and ride’ scheme from Grand Prix Services at Brough village which is just off the A66 a couple of miles beyond Warcop. The postcode fgor non-navigators is CA17 4AY.

Admission is £5 per person, with the Under 16s going free if accompanied by a paying adult. This price includes park and ride and access to the spectator area. Catering and toilets available all day.

The buses will run every 20 minutes, but please note that between 11.45 am – 12.30 pm there will be no service due to the drivers’ tea and sanny break.
