… Grant Construction Knockhill Stages Rally …
The Scottish rallying season gets underway this weekend with the first round of the Blackwood Plant Hire Scottish Tarmack Championship at Knockhill on Sunday 12th Feb. Border Ecosse CC are planning 8 stages using the peripheral roads and track at the circuit with the first getting underway at first light, 08:31 Hrs!
There will however be one notable difference to this year’s championship, it will be much quieter. Trix Grant has decided to stand down as Co-ordinator with Douglas Smith having stepped in to fill the gap. However, if you get things wrong you still won’t be spared any necessary ear-bashing as Trix will remain as Dunfermline car club and events secretary. Gaun yersel Trix.
Already things are looking good with Arron Newby coming up to join the fray from deepest Coombria while Ross Marshall will be out for his debut run in the Millington powered Skoda. That will give the ‘aul men’ some serious competition, like Gary Adam, Alan Kirkaldy and John Marshall. And Bob Grant could spring a surprise too, he’s getting a shot of John Rintoul’s Hyundai.
Just one thing, bring your winter woolies. Knockhill’s micro-climate can challenge the parts that long johns and rally jackets fail to protect.
On Sunday, admission is £10 in advance (see website), or £12 on the day, with spectator gates opening from 7.30am.
